Irish Hockey visit on road to Rio

The Kingsley Hotel played host to a group of hopeful Irish Olympians this week when the Irish Hockey squad enjoyed the relaxed surroundings of our four star hotel in Cork as they continued their preparations for the Rio Olympics.

The Irish squad were in Cork to take on the world number-two side, the Netherlands, during their two-match FEXCO Series at the Mardyke grounds of University College Cork on the 4th and 6th July.

Ireland’s senior men’s team will be the first Irish hockey side to compete at an Olympics since 1908, and also have the honour of being the first team sport to represent Ireland at an Olympic Games since 1948.

As the leading hotel near UCC, The Kingsley was ideally placed to offer the Ireland Hockey the luxury of high quality accommodation in Cork while also being within walking distance of the Mardyke hockey pitch.

  • Game 1: Ireland 2  – 5 The Netherlands
  • Game 2: Ireland 0 – 7 The Netherlands
