The Cork Folk Festival is an annual music and culture events which takes place at a number of venues throuhgout Cork City at the beginging of October.
The 36th instalment of festival takes place between the 1st and 4th October at various venues throughout Ireland’s southern capital and has emerged as one of the most influentital cultural music events not only in Ireland but also throughout Europe.
The busy schedule of events includes performances in concert halls, music venues, pubs and on the city’s streets. Performances will have both an international and local falvour with cutting edge contemporary artists joining the more established of the genre. The festival will also include various lectures, workshops, children’s events, and traditional set dancing.
The event has a strong focus on local Cork City, Sliabh Luachra and Cuil Aodha music and song so prepare for plenty of polkas, slides and harrier ballads.
