Live at the Marquee to return to the Showgrounds in Cork City

The very popular Live at the Marquee festival has been rescheduled for the summer of 2021. The decision has been taken with the ‘health and wellbeing’ of concert-goers a key concern for organisers as well as abiding by government restrictions on events for more than 5,000 people.

The Live at the Marque was scheduled to kick off in late May of this summer and run right through until the end of June at the Showgrounds on Monaghan Road close to Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The 2020 line up was jammed pack with a list of some great artists such as Tom Jones, The Coronas, Fontaines DC, Diana Ross, Nathan Carter, Crowded House and 80’s icons the Pet Shop Boys to name a few.

Luckily, some of those great artists and shows have already been rescheduled for 2021 with Aiken Promotions, the event promoters, stating that they are actively in the process of rescheduling reschedule other events.

General Manager of The Kingsley Hotel in Cork & Chair of the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) Cork Branch, Fergal Harte, said that as one of the main hotels near the Marquee it has been working with guests who had prior bookings during that time period, as well as all other guests.

“We’ve been working with our guests and with everyone who has been in touch with us and we appreciate that everyone is in a very difficult decision. We’re doing our very best to accommodate everyone to their satisfaction and we’ve had no issues in that regard.”

At present, The Kingsley Hotel is hosting frontline healthcare staff in partnership with the HSE for the duration of the COVI-19 emergency.
